BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Lawmakers, engineers, and members of the Port Authority provided an update on the monthslong Canaveral Harbor Sand Bypass project during a visit to Jetty Park on Thursday.
None of the main roads will be stopped. Ground was broken to begin construction of the final segment of the bypass in April. The project is expected to be completed at the end of 2028.
The Georges Creek Bridge has opened to traffic after the crossing was closed in 2019 due to safety concerns. Originally built in 1924, the span carried traffic for nearly a century.
