Eight people have died after a hot-air balloon caught fire and tumbled from the sky in Brazil. A further 13 people including the pilot were injured in the incident in the southern state of Santa Catarina on Saturday morning, according to local officials.

A hot-air balloon caught fire and fell from the sky in Brazil’s southern state of Santa Catarina, killing eight people. Footage shared by local news outlet G1 showed smoke coming from the balloon as it dropped to the ground.

A balloon with 33 crew members crashed in the rural area of Capela do Alto, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday (15). According to investigations, it is believed the victim was pregnant. The balloon pilot was arrested.
