The first radio call for Engine 6 received a resounding round of applause Thursday from city leaders and community members who gathered inside the fire station on the first day it returned to service.
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Fire Department's Engine 6 is back open now, after a 16 year absence. The fire house services residents in Port Richmond, Kensington, and Fishtown.
Thanks to a $22.4 million FEMA grant, Engine 6 in Port Richmond, which was one of seven fire companies that closed during the 2009 recession, was returned to service on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025.
