About 250 of the University of Michigan's iconic peonies were found Sunday morning with their flowers cut in an possible anti-Israel protest.

The University of Michigan's Division of Public Safety & Security department is investigating after the on-campus peony garden was vandalized over the weekend.

ANN ARBOR, MI – The nation’s largest peony garden was vandalized over the weekend as protesters sheared the flowers from about one third of the blooming plants.

Thousands of blooming peony plants were destroyed overnight at the University of Michigan’s W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden.

Around 250 peony plants on the north side of the garden had most of their flowers cut. The garden has around 800 peony plants. Police said 100 paper signs were left throughout the area.
