A Carnival cruise ship’s passengers were left temporarily stranded in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, when the vessel left port after striking the side of a pier during rough weather.
Seacliff State Beach’s pier in Santa Cruz County, however, was no match for a series of storms that pounded the state and left it in ruins, McClatchy News reported.
The wooden pier is the longest of its kind on the West Coast and has been rebuilt five times since it was first constructed in 1888, so many times that it may not be considered the same pier.
