One thing is for certain, though: If any cocktail invented in the last 20 years is going to qualify for that title, then surely the Paper Plane is going to be one of the first mentioned.

In a shaker, combine a large handful of ice, Amaro Nonino, Aperol, bourbon and citrus juice. Shake until icy, and strain into glass.

Named after M.I.A.’s hit song, the Paper Plane cocktail was created for the opening of the Violet Hour in Chicago by bartender Sam Ross circa 2007. (FYI, Ross also developed the Penicillin).
