The USA TODAY Network reported that Panama City Beach was on pace to again be the deadliest beach to swim in the U.S. Now, the city is cracking down.

Three of the 2024 drownings happened within the city limits of Panama City Beach. They were on March 27, June 20 and June 24. The four other drownings happened off unincorporated Bay County beaches.

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Law enforcement and tourism leaders in Panama City Beach are trying to reach a careful balance after a hectic and violent Spring Break season.

Wednesday was the unveiling of the new tools in beach access 22. The program places rescue tubes at 10 beach access points in Panama City Beach limits and another 10 in Bay County.
