Vaughn P. Drake Jr., a Kentuckian believed to be the oldest survivor of the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, has died at the age of 106, according to his family.
On December 7, 1941, as chaos erupted at Pearl Harbor, two U.S. pilots - George Welch and Kenneth Taylor - raced to their P-40 Warhawks and took to the skies.
Vaughn P. Drake Jr., who was born in Winchester, Ky., was believed to be the oldest survivor of Pearl Harbor. He died April 7, 2025 at the age of 106.
