There's cold, then there's Siberia cold. Oymyakon, Russia — already considered the world's coldest permanently inhabited town — sank to a mind-numbing 88 degrees below zero on Tuesday.
According to the World Meteorological Organization, Oymyakon's record-high temperature was recorded at 34.6 Celsius (94.3 F) in July, while the record low was clocked in at –67.7 Celsius (-89.9 F).

This is Oymyakon, a settlement of some 500 people in Russia’s Yakutia region, that has earned the reputation as the coldest permanently occupied human settlement in the world.
