Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson shot to superstardom after forming the boy band One Direction in 2010 before they went their separate ways in 2016.

Liam Payne, who rose to fame as part of the British boy band One Direction, is dead at 31. Payne died outside a hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, local police confirmed Wednesday.

Malik cited “stress” after leaving the group’s world tour in March 2015. “My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined,” he said in a statement at the time.
