Police said 21-year-old Joscelynne Pannone was driving an SUV when she lost control on the wet interstate and rammed into the back of a parked flatbed truck. Pannone was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 2014 Dodge flatbed truck hit an unnamed woman near 63 North Common St. around 6:20 a.m. Friday, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker said in a statement.

Melissa Barbanell's 7-year-old son was severely injured after being hit by a pickup truck. A stranger, who turned out to be a nurse, let Barbanell know he was going to be OK.
