After three straight exits at the hands of the Oilers, you don’t need a degree in hockey to see who wants this series more. The Kings are hungry, while the Oilers just can’t match the energy of their more desperate opponent.

With Evander Kane back in the lineup, the Oilers loaded up their top line with their two superstars, Connor McDavid and Draisaitl, and veteran Corey Perry on right wing. Though they controlled play at five-on-five, the tangible results didn’t show that.

The route taken to this point was unique, but the visiting Edmonton Oilers are not in unfamiliar territory heading into Game 2 of their Western Conference first-round series with the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday.
