A letter released by the American Association of Colleges and Universities calls out the Trump administration's "unprecedented government overreach" as well as "political interference" it says is "endangering American higher education.

The statement came a day after Harvard University sued the administration over its decision to freeze billions of dollars in federal funding, following the school’s refusal to submit to a list of demands.
