On its third Friday in theaters, "Mufasa: The Lion King" finally took the No. 1 spot, surpassing "Sonic the Hedgehog 3” for the first time since they were both released on Dec. 20.

Mufasa: The Lion King has claimed the box office No. 1 spot in its third weekend, thanks to a stronger hold than Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Remarkably, The Lion King wasn't even the top-performing film of that historic year at the box office (Avengers: Endgame earned $2.8 billion and became the second highest-grossing movie ever made).
