New Orleans residents can escape the heat by visiting cooling centers at libraries and recreation centers across the city.

Residents can use the interactive NOLAReady Heat Relief Map to find cooling centers, shelters and water fountains and pools.

Officials with the City of New Orleans have announced the opening of free cooling centers in the city due to excessive heat.
