The turnpike, an express toll road covering 117 miles, connects some of the state’s suburbs to New York, Philadelphia and other major cities on a gargantuan concrete highway.

The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. along the outer roadway of the southbound Turnpike near milepost 86 in Edison Township, Middlesex County, according to New Jersey State Police.
