An estimated 4,100 vehicles cross the bridge each day. Harrison & Burrowes Bridge Constructors Inc., of Glenmont, New York, was awarded the general contract on the $7.8 million project.

The New York State Thruway Authority said the bridge will close to all traffic in the late afternoon on that day. Work on the new bridge is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2026.
