Namibia plans to cull more than 700 wild animals, including over 80 elephants, and distribute the meat to people; southern Africa currently faces a severe drought.
However, according to World Population Review, the latest estimate indicates Namibia has more than 24,000 elephants, a rise of 5.36 per cent in a year.
The Namibian government last month approved the culling of 723 animals, including 83 elephants, 30 hippos, 60 buffalos, 50 impalas, 300 zebras and 100 elands, among others.
