The ZOTAC Twin Edge GeForce RTX 4070 offers 12GB of VRAM, a powerful mid-range GPU, and support for Nvidia's newest DLSS 3/3.5 standards including its proprietary Frame Gen tech.
As Nick explained, the reason why this is happening at all is thought to be a short supply of the GDDR6X graphics memory used by the existing RTX 4070. Indeed, Nvidia's announcement implies just that.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Vs. 4070: How Do The GPUs Compare? - MSNIf you have an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 seated in your gaming PC, there is no reason to upgrade to the 5070, and even less so if you have a 4070 Super. It's almost as if NVIDIA made the same card ...
For those unaware, Nvidia launched the GeForce RTX 4070 for $600 about a year and a half ago. It featured 12GB of GDDR6X 21Gbps memory, resulting in a memory bandwidth of 504GB/s.
NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 5070 12GB rumored to be 5% faster in rasterization than the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and around 5-10% faster in RT.
But it’s not a major upgrade over the RTX 4070, and it’s even less impressive in games that don’t support DLSS. With just 12GB of RAM, it’s also not nearly as future-proof as the 5070 Ti.
The new RTX 50-series graphics card performs about as well as the last-generation RTX 4070 Super despite the newer architecture, more advanced RT and Tensor cores, and faster memory.
Memory performance has also seen a major boost. Unlike the RTX 4070 Ti’s 12GB GDDR6X configuration and the RTX 4070 Ti Super’s 16GB of the same memory type, the RTX 5070 Ti moves to 16GB of GDDR7.
Nvidia’s new RTX 5070 improves on the existing RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Super. It launches on March 5th, just ahead of AMD’s RX 9070 series.
There are a few more differences that spec sheet sleuths will care about when comparing the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 and 5070 GPUs, but none that we have time to go into here, and none that would ...
