UPDATED: October 29, 2024 at 4:31 PM PDT Local mountains got their first taste of winter Tuesday, Oct. 29, with a light dusting of snow that fell overnight as a cold system passed through the region.

Snow accumulations in the mountains could be up to 11 inches with locally higher amounts in some areas. Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.

An additional 5 to 10 inches of snow could fall in the Elkhead and Park Mountains. Snow totals at Colorado ski resorts from this midweek snowfall ranged from 5 inches to nearly a foot.
