Transcatheter mitral valve repair improved clinical outcomes in patients with HF across all quartiles of mitral valve gradient, according to new data from the COAPT trial. As Healio previously ...
For patients with failing bioprosthetic surgical mitral valves, the transcatheter mitral valve-in-valve (ViV) procedure provides early outcomes similar to those seen with repeat surgical replacement, ...
Patients with pre-existing AF who died during follow-up had an elevation in mitral valve pressure gradient compared with surviving patients without pre-existing AF (4.8 mm Hg vs. 3.6 mm Hg; P = .01).
Methods: Patients undergoing mitral ViV and ViR were enrolled in the Valve-in-Valve International Data. Cases were performed between March 2006 and March 2020.
However, outcomes varied. One patient had a residual MV mean gradient > 10 mm Hg, and seven had a mean gradient > 5 mm Hg (mild stenosis < 5 mm Hg). Complications also occurred.

In the 6 patients with normal pulmonary-artery pressures, mitral-valve flow varied from 95 to 261 ml./V.F.P./sec., pressure gradient from 6 to 18 mm. of mercury, and mitral-valve area from 1.0 to ...
Retrograde study showed a mitral-valve gradient of 25 mm. of mercury, a calculated forward-valve area of 0.3 square centimeter and an elevated pulmonary arteriolar resistance.

Polymer Valve's Strong Debut in Mitral Valve Surgery - MSNNEW YORK CITY -- Heart valve innovation has made polymer valves a reality, with one such device boasting good 1-year outcomes in a small single-arm study. Adults who received the Tria device for ...
At rest, LVEF was 68%, the mitral valve area (MVA) was 0.9 cm 2 by pressure half-time method (0.8 cm 2 by continuity equation) and the mean transmitral gradient (MTMG) was 17 mmHg.
Following a Carpentier Edwards mitral valve replacement (MVR), left ventricular outflow tract obstruction is observed that leads to a gradient of more than 50mm Hg. This rare complication occurs ...
