Melvin E. Banks Sr., the beloved founder of Urban Ministries Inc., and husband of 65 years to wife Olive, died on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021. He was 86. Banks began his spiritual journey at a young age.

Melvin was employed at EJ & E Railroad from 1969-1977, Gary Community School Corp. in the Security Department 1978-1995. He graduated from the Indiana Police Academy in 1977.
