NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans mayor LaToya Cantrell described herself as an unfairly persecuted champion of the people’s values Sunday (July 6) at a panel discussion at the Essence Festival.

“The Essence Festival, 31 years strong. We got to give it up for that, give up to the leadership who had the foresight 31 years, those who have stepped into the role,” Cantrell said.
