In the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal trailer, what appears to be a new Mario Kart game shows off a new design for Donkey Kong that makes him look more like his design from The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

This “new” Donkey Kong actually looks more like the version of the ape seen in TheSuper Mario Bros. Movie, which Donkey Kong creator Shigeru Miyamoto revealed to audiences in 2022.

Takeda voiced Donkey Kong in the Super Mario Bros. Movie as well (well spotted, IGN). As you probably know, the movie role is actually voiced. Takeda's English-speaking counterpart is Seth Rogen.
