Nintendo is shutting down servers for the Wii U and 3DS on April 8th at 7PM ET, which means you’ll no longer be able to play Mario Kart 8 or the original Splatoon online.
It first came out on the Wii U, way back in 2014. To put it in perspective, that puts it both 11 years from 2025 and the release of Mario Kart: Double Dash.
When the announcement came that the Wii U’s online services were being shut down, there were approximately 26,000 levels made by hand in Super Mario Maker that hadn’t ever been beaten.
