Despite the criticism, Netflix announced a second season of the show. Now, Baroda’s Maharani Radhikaraje Gaekwad has condemned the series for misrepresenting India’s royal heritage.

The Maharani of Baroda emphasised the evolving role of royal women, who are now emerging as leaders and custodians of their rich heritage (As opposed to what was showcased in the series).

Unlike what the Netflix web series shows, the royals are not poor. They are landowners and entrepreneurs managing palaces, hotels, art and heritage businesses, according to Royal Fables.
