Kunin was acquired in a trade with the Nashville Predators as one of the first moves of Grier’s tenure. Kunin is expected to sign a one-year, $2.75 million contract extension with the Sharks.

The award is Kunin's second from the Big Ten. He was named the third star of the week on Jan. 12 after recording a goal and three assists in a Jan. 9 game against Ohio State.
