With hurricane season upon us, a new original play called “Hurricane Party” is making its weekend debut in New Orleans following a sold-out run in Hollywood.

While we waited for the power company to come out, my neighbors and I threw a hurricane party, a lesser-known Louisiana tradition where, potluck-style, we cooked food pulled from our warming freezers.
