COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Jim Leyland ’s family and friends, well-aware of how emotional he is, aren’t quite sure how Leyland will get through his Baseball Hall of Fame speech Sunday.

The Detroit Tigers retired Leyland’s No. 10 on Saturday, putting him next to Sparky Anderson -- both literally and figuratively -- as one of two of the franchise’s managerial legends.

Leyland, 79, is currently a special assistant in the Detroit front office. Leyland managed the Tigers from 2006-2013, making the playoffs four times and advancing to the World Series in 2006 and 2012.
