Two Leonia parents filed a lawsuit against the district, Leonia Middle School, Vice Principal Aprel King and the board in state Superior Court on Jan. 3.

Students at Leonia Middle School returned to the classroom Friday morning after being off Thursday due to downed poles that were knocked down, causing power outages for many parts of the borough.

Leonia Middle School in Bergen County was closed Thursday “due to hazardous conditions created by the storm,” the local police department said in an announcement on social media.
