By all accounts, the LM002 was a pretty big flop. Lamborghini only built 301 of them between 1986 and 1990 (and one in 1994 made up of spare parts).
Part of the legend of the Lamborghini LM002 is just how it came to be in the first place. As the story goes, it was the mid-1970s, and Lamborghini struck lightning in a bottle with the Countach.
But while the LM002 was still impressive in the early ‘90s, Lamborghini’s corporate health wasn’t. Its successor would have to wait until a new owner came into control.
He knew they would turn out useful, and they did. The Lamborghini LM002 was originally sold in August 1991 to a dealer in the United States, but it eventually closed in 1996/1997.
