Garrett Middleton, of Victor Mont., hurls a 24 pound stone Saturday during the Frozen Stones Games at Shoshone Park. A number of the participants were throwing the stone well over 23 feet.
The event, formerly called the Pikes Peak Highland Games, was disbanded after its last hurrah in 1999 and brought back to life in 2013 by Joseph Poch, whose grandparents helped organize the original.
