According to Washington County Sheriff Jerry Pinkston, one person died during the early morning storms, and seven others were injured. There are also reports of widespread storm damage, downed utility poles, trees snapped, and multiple buildings destroyed.

The weather service’s office in Morristown later preliminarily confirmed in a social media post that an EF0 tornado struck near the border of Loudon and Monroe counties.
