It’s the Highway 84 bypass project that leaders hope will improve safety. County leaders say that this is a project almost 20 years in the making.

Drivers in South Bend will have a major construction project to work around this week.Crews will repave State Road 2 and will shut down the ramps at the Bypass.

The work will create a three-mile (4.8km) bypass around a section of the east-west route, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

He says he sold part of his property to the state to help get the bypass underway. “We were willing, are willing, to do anything to help the citizens of Liberty County be safer,” says Pastor Scott.
