The first of seven turtle nests on the North Shore beach have emerged after volunteers raised alarms about disturbance from beachgoers and houses nearby.

UPDATE @ 4:00 P.M. Honolulu Police say 72-year-old Susie Jett from Moore and 63-year-old man from California were killed after being swept into the ocean by a large wave at Kei Iki Beach.

The incident occurred just after 8 a.m. on Monday at Ke Iki Beach in Pupuke, on the north shore of Oahu; a stretch of beach that does not have a lifeguard tower.
