CHICAGO (AP) -- A federal judge sentenced the former mayor of southwest suburban Justice to three years in prison Wednesday on charges stemming from a 2004 bankruptcy.

Spokane City Council confirmed the mayor's latest appointment to the Spokane Human Rights Commission at its meeting Monday. With the council's approval, the newest member is Justice Forral.

A 13-year-old girl was shot and killed in Montgomery early Friday morning, police said.
