Joseph James DeAngelo aka the Golden State Killer is an American serial killer, serial rapist, and burglar, who is responsible for at least 13 murders, 51 rapes, and 120 burglaries.

DeAngelo in June pleaded guilty to 13 murders and 13 rape-related charges, but publicly admitted to dozens more because the statute of limitations for sexual assaults had expired.

Before Joseph James DeAngelo, Jr. became known as the Golden State Killer, he was born in Bath, N.Y., on Nov. 8, 1945. He had two sisters, Rebecca and Constance, and a younger brother named John.
