Prosecutors in the 2011 death of Fairfield’s Katelyn Markham turned over more than 100 pieces of evidence to the defense team representing her former fiance.

John Carter, 36, was charged with two counts of murder when he was arrested in March 2023. He eventually pleaded guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter as part of a plea deal.

The hearing was continued until Sept. 12. Carter, Markham’s fiancé when he reported her missing from her Fairfield townhouse, is free on $1 million bond after the March indictment.
