The parade was led by grand marshal President Jeffrey R. Holland, acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Days of '47 Parade Float Preview Party showcased unique, pioneer-themed floats in Sandy. Highlights included a Mississippi river boat float and Archibald Gardner's story float.

An Independence Day parade in a Wisconsin town on Lake Michigan ended in controversy after a local VFW post float was asked to leave in the middle of the procession.
