A U.S. Army colonel’s great-grandson returned a “good luck” flag Wednesday to the family of a Japanese soldier who carried it into battle during World War II.
Marvin Strombo, who had taken the calligraphy-covered Japanese flag from a dead soldier at the Second World War island battlefield 73 years ago, returned it Tuesday to the family of Sadao Yasue.
