The UK government is trying to walk a tightrope on relations with Israel, expressing support for its military action against Iran while also criticizing the war in Gaza.

Iranian media reported that Israel struck the South Pars Gas Field in what would be the first attack on an Iranian energy site.

Israel launched unprecedented military strikes against Iran, targeting military sites and its nuclear program. The attacks by more than 200 fighter jets killed at least three of Iran’s top military officers.

Israelis have been rallying around the flag since the attacks began last week, even if not around Netanyahu himself.

In Israel, at least 10 people were killed in Iranian strikes overnight and into Sunday, according to the Magen David Adom rescue service, bringing the country’s total death toll to 13. The country’s main international airport and airspace remained closed for a third day.

Trump distanced himself from direct involvement in Israel’s strikes. But Benjamin Netanyahu will need the U.S. president to finish the job.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi alleged on state TV that he had proof that the United States was involved.
