A commission of inquiry in Victoria concluded that British colonialists' treatment of the state's First Peoples in the 1830s amounted to genocide, crimes against humanity and denial of freedoms.

"There is no way in hell a British colonizer is coming to Inuit Nunaat in 2025 and claiming any firsts,” a member of the local Inuit community wrote on social media.
