Indiana House Speaker Todd Huston, R-Fishers, announced Thursday that the House would not consider a bill that officials with IndyGo say would kill the planned Blue Line bus rapid-transit line.
The 24-mile Blue Line would provide rapid transit along Washington Street between Cumberland and the Airport, using I-70 west of Holt Road. The Blue Line would replace the existing Route 8.
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The fate of the IndyGo Blue Line was in doubt after Indiana lawmakers in January advanced a bill that would have effectively killed the city’s bus rapid-transit project.
The bill in its current form would prohibit the construction of bus rapid transit lanes, including the Blue Line, until July 1, 2025. It would not affect the Purple Line already under construction.
