Neena Patel Williams grew up in London working in her family's restaurant. After moving to Los Angeles she created the Spice Box and cookbook to help home chefs master the art of Indian home cooking.
That restaurant’s jolly, pot-bellied Buddha, red lacquer and elaborate carved latticework are gone now, replaced by a contemporary decor in the vivid colors of an Indian spice box.
Spice Malabar will be open for lunch noon to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
A family from India thought they had left the restaurant business behind. But after moving to Phoenix, they couldn't help but show just how delicious and exciting Indian cuisine can be.
