More than 100 human rights groups and international aid charities have called for a new Israel-U.S.-backed mechanism for distributing humanitarian aid in Gaza to be shut down after at least 500 Palestinians were killed.

The U.N. human rights office said on Friday it had recorded at least 613 killings both at aid points run by the U.S.- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) and near humanitarian convoys run by other relief groups including the U.

The UN reports over 613 Palestinian civilians have died in Gaza while seeking aid, mostly near GHF distribution sites.
