Let the countdown to Chinese New Year begin! According to the lunar calendar, Chinese New Year — also called the Spring Festival — falls on Feb. 10 and celebrates the year of the Wood Dragon.

Beginning on Feb. 10, 2024 marks the Year of the Dragon. A central figure in Chinese culture, the dragon represents vigor, strength and good fortune, among other powerful attributes.

Another Chinese holiday that incorporates the dragon is the Dragon Boat Festival, or Duanwu Festival, which takes place in late spring or early summer. It will take place on May 31, 2025.
