Apr. 1—Houston officials say an Austin Street bike lane interfered with firefighter training at Station 7, justifying its removal as part of a controversial street rehabilitation project.

The call for the fire at the Magnolia Terrace apartment complex, 3939 Synott Road near Ashford Point Drive, came in at 5:39 a.m., according to the Houston Fire Department active incidents site.

UPDATE: 12:53 p.m. Houston Fire Department Chief Thomas Munoz said the fire hydrants near the warehouse fire were not in working order, causing the massive blaze to spread.

Police said the driver was detained. The Houston Fire Department said 47 people, including adults and fifth graders, were aboard the school bus during the crash.
