BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Beaufort County Schools held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday to celebrate the construction of a brand new Pre-K through 3rd grade Washington Elementary School.

“Carteret County Public Schools is a highly rated, public school district located in Beaufort, NC. It has 7,964 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 13 to 1,” Niche says.

Last school year, Beaufort County was designated as a low-performing district. “Pre-pandemic, we had zero low-performing schools. We were moving in such a positive direction,” Dr. Cheeseman said.
