Archaeologists have revitalized a Roman flower garden in Pompeii that survived an earthquake in 62 A.D. before being buried by Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The garden was hidden for nearly 1,900 years.
The statue has been variously dated from the end of the first to the beginning of the third centuries. Even in its day, the towering Hercules was treated with reverence.
