The Simi Valley Police Department responded to the park at 1215 First St. around 12:15 p.m. after receiving a call from a passerby who found the body, said police Sgt. Stephen Collett.

The Ventura County Fire Department and the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the fire at the residence in the 1600 block of Edmund Street around 11:48 a.m., according to initial reports.
